Serbian Spruce
Serbian
Spruce is known for its beautiful flue foliage and its majestic,
swooping branches. This is one tough tree, adapting to may different
climates and soil conditions. This tree is lesser known than the
Colorado spruce and Norway spruce but may just be superior to both.
The needles are less sharp than the other spruces, making this a more
desirable tree to bring in the house for the Christmas season.
Does best in deep, rich, well-drained soil but is adaptable to many soil
conditions. Winter winds can cause damage, so locating this plant in a
sheltered location would be advisable. It is hardy to Zones 4-7, so it
is fine for Central Ohio
April 2006, this tree will be available as a container tree, planted in
a 3-gallon container, prices starting at $9.89.
