Norway Spruce
This
tree grows best in moist deep loam soils, due to its adaptability they
can also grow on clay and sandy soils as long as there is adequate
moisture to meet their needs.
Growth is 2-3 feet per year, in heavy soils they may average one foot
per year. This is the faster growing, largest and most disease resistant
spruce in the Northern Hemisphere. It will tolerate 50% shade, but the
growth and density will be reduced.
When used as a Christmas tree is has been found out that they do not
hold there needles well after being cut, needles will begin to fall
after being in the house only two weeks. Makes an excellent landscaping
tree, dark green color, large cones, very hardy.
This tree is available as a dug tree, balled and burlapped and placed in
a wire basket - ready to plant.
