Colorado Blue Spruce
is an attractive tree often used for Christmas trees or as ornamentals.
This species generally reaches a
height of 65-115 feet at maturity.
This
tree is moderately shade tolerant and grows best in deep, rich gravely
soil. It has deep penetrating root system that makes that species
resistant to being blown over once it is established.
It has natural shapes and requires little
shearing. It has excellent needle retention, therefore, is very
popular to use as a Christmas tree to be planted after the holiday
season.
